when I was 15 or 16 my dad's friend (who is a volunteer firefighter) asked me if I wanted to come along to a fire with their team. At the time I had no car and they said all you have to do is make it to the firestation before we leave. The firestation is only 2 miles away and they said they leave within 5 minutes of the call. So, I get the call to come in, so I hop on my bike and I fly down to the firestation and since there are no sidewalks I had to ride in the street. The street that I rode on was tight and had traffic in both directions and it was rush hour. So I am riding into oncoming traffic and this one guy with a box truck decides he is going to scare me and pretend that he is going to drive his car into me. So I am riding on the very edge of the road and he comes right for me and I stop so suddenly that the back tire slides a bit. He drove by smiling and I called him some choice words, but for a minute there I thought that I might have been run over.
