I live in Salt lake city area and want to grow a American Holly Hedge . other shrubs or trees suggestions?

Will need 26 3-5' of them at a 5.5 spacing and look to see a 10 ft hedge in 18 months

Ilex opaca American Holly is a tall tree unsuited for hedges. other holly choices include fosteri, savannah, burfordi,lusterleaf,emily brunner,etc. a denser tree would be Tsuga canadensis Hemlock. my choice would be osmanthus=dense foliage and fragrance! Osmanthus heterophyllus or O. X fortunei. i'm an UGA horticulturist and LDS. good luck
