When we see world around, it seems that its technically perfect, for example food chain - big/intelligent animals feeding on small animals. Due to food chain there's balance in nature. But when it comes to emotional side its very sad, the victims in the food chain get mecilessly killed for food or fun. From technical aspect, gods creation is perfect but from emotional aspect it seems he has no mercy. Didn't god had better options in creating this world.

And the follow-up question, "What happened to the 15 or so hominids that are now extinct, most notably the Neandertals? What are we, the new and improved model?"

So which is the error? The system which involves the perpetual killing of lower life forms as a matter of course? Or the faculty by which humans experience emotion to pity them?
This is a physical world, one of reality. Think for a moment about any real being fitting the description of GOD: the creator of all that is, omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent. PERFECT, in the Latin sense of the word: complete. Complete in and of itself. So, the real issue is that such a being could have NO conceivable reason to CREATE in the first place. It would simply NOT happen-- for what purpose would humanity, the universe, life itself be created? GOD IS COMPLETE.
So the only reasonable conclusion is: that which we call GOD by nature is less than perfect, not complete, and created humanity for a mundane purpose. The most obvious reason for this creation, since it is what religion has insisted upon for thousands of years, is that God created humanity for the sole purpose of worshiping him. (A more sinister interpretation being that He was merely bored.)
And what is the greatest incentive to worship GOD? (Merely his presence didn't work, the heavenly host and that whole thing that happened with Satan proved that.) Every sentient being in existence fears the end of its own existence.
So, could God have created a better world? If he's all that a concept of GOD should be, He/it wouldn't have created anything, it would have been superfluous and unnecessary. (And if this concept IS true, and God does have some other unfathomable purpose, it MUST be a selfish one, for no benefit his purpose could have for the universe or for human souls would not be precluded by simply NOT creating them-- the purpose must lie within God itself.) But without this imperfect, seemingly cruel world, humanity would not feel this perpetual fear of death, and would feel no need to worship a God that offers salvation from it in exchange.
Could God have made a better world? For us, maybe. For all the animals on this planet. But it works out better for Him having not. If you belive in God, you must believe he had a reason for creating the universe and everything in it-- it is imperfect for a reason; he must really need worshipers.

i guess he gave a tiny drop of mercy to you.
if you feel so compassionate about it, dont forget that one of gods perfect creation is you.
there are many things you can do help lessen the pain.
perhaps you're a vegetarian.
but that doesnt exclude you out of the food chain, you know.
so beside questioning god for a redesign from the emotional aspect of a food chain, what else have you done with your gifted drop of mercy from god?

Would you have had God design us to laugh merrily in the face of certain death- instead? This wasn't meant to be "Heaven", it was meant to be Life on Earth. And with all it's built-in trials & tribulations -there will be the corresponding emotions that go with them. We'd never "know" what joy or happiness WAS- if we didn't have the sadness or suffering to compare it with. God likes variety in ALL things...-So it only makes sense that we would experience the emotional "gammut" when it came to experience HIS "creations..." In short, He KNEW what He was doing. :)

LOL
God made us in his image, maybe to eventally atain godlike powers, then we can be our own designers.

Everyone always thinks they could do something better, it is our human nature.
