I have 2 suggestions for you. The first one you may find really odd but I have found it take any stain out I have ever had in my carpet. Windex and not even the name brand Windex I get the stuff the dollar store sells. JUst spray it on and then rub it out or use a shampooer.

And 2nd I add Oxy Clean to my carpet shampooer everytime i do the carpets works like a charm.

Hope this helps

Really there is no way to get it cleaned without a machine to suck up the dirt.
You can try using soap and water and get on your knee's and scrub with a scrub brush then use a towel to soak up excess water.
Try using a small amount of laundry detergent and water. It may help, but a machine would work best.
Check the prices at your local grocery store or Lowe's, Home Depot to rent a machine. I don't think they are that expensive.

Resolve Spot Magic is really like magic in my experience. Test in an out of the way corner first, for colorfastness of your carpet.

try Oxyclean carpet spray and spot remover, steam cleaning is best by professional, rental machines are crappy, I own a bissell, and use it occassionally for small jobs, well worth it.

I use my liquid laundry detergent not alot though or you'll have to keep emptying dirty water tank. You may have to go over it a couple times
