When I hit a ball on a wall, the ball comes back. Can somebody pl explain the physics behind. Why doesn't the ball just lose its horizontal velocity and drops down, or why doesn't it lose both its horizontal and vertical velocity and sticks to the wall.

The ball comes back to you because it is made out of something which, on impact, compresses and stores the impact energy then releases it as it returns to a round shape again (like air-filled rubber) sending the ball back to you [of course some energy is lost so the return won't be quite as fast as the hit]. Try throwing a lump of oil clay or lead at a wall and there will be little or no bounce back.

The wall exerts equal but opposite force..

Actually I really didn't read over your question as good as I should have, but check the newton laws
