What is the largest amount of money YOU have ever lost in the stock market and did you make it back?

I lost about $600,000 a few years ago. I made it back over time, but I had never suffered such a loss in the markets.

I'm not sure It wasn't that much. I know for the most part I have made gains so that's good. It's had not to right now it seems, with the record highs on the stock market these days.

I lost $55, 000 and yes i did make it all back and more because i knew the market will always come back so i invested more money when it goes down. Ans this was just a few yrs ago. Oh by the way i hate republicans coz u dont carfe about the little people and u are all for the rich and big oil. U need to take care of Americans who are poor. but all u do is take care of your friends and big oil co. And dont care about health care . And bring out troops home now. The hell with Iraq and all those crazy people over there. Thank god u are gone soon.

Well that depends on whether you compute the loss from the orig. purchase, or the high point of the stock many years later.

I'll assume you want it from the buy-in in which case it was about $1/4M.

I can thank a Federal judge for the maneuvers that caused that loss and allowed the liquid assets of the company involved to "change hands" and be moved from one state to another 3 times in a week before any of us found out what was going on. Been a couple of years now, and the stockholders never were informed that the company did a face-plant.
