I would like to hear from many people, on this matter, because
I value the opinions of others, no matter if they were / have
been born in America.
Sometimes we take so much for Granted, and I just wondered
how many others, celebrate the Individualism they have, and
what activities they do about being Patriotic, and do you feel
it your duty, to do so?
What can we do to improve the lifestyles and eventually
have universal patriotic actions?
Suggestions??!!??

Yes, it is a duty to be patriotic; I served in the Army; when I got out, I was disabled. I flew my flag until the wind bent the staff out of shape. I vote in the elections, even though I am not satisfied with the candidates.
We all have the duty to be patriotic; we can vote, help others, we don't need to serve in the military.
When people see a wrong, it is their duty to speak up. It is the duty of every citizen and every one living here and every one coming across the border to work to read the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill or Rights and all the Amendments, at the very least. It is the citizens duty to speak up and let the politicians know what they are doing right, what they are doing wrong.
And, yes, I understand "universal patriotism"; that simple means every one does what is best for the country.

I think it is our patriotic duty to tell the truth and speak our minds either in support of our country's actions or against them, if we feel they go against the Constitution, the rights of its' citizens or against the rights of those abroad. The greatest patriotic act a citizen can do is vote their conscience. We should cherish different parties in our political system, and monitor those who we give power to. We need to remind our government that they work for us, and not the other way around. We need to get out of the "rich" or "poor" mentality that we have now; when you have desperate poverty (such as what was left from Katrina, in our cities, with our laid-off workforce), why should they feel patriotic? They don't have very much to celebrate. We need to tackle poverty and jobless families for a more patriotic country. Unfortunately, that means fighting against the uber-wealthy who may not want to make concessions such as taking pay cuts to keep more of their workers on the job, making more affordable homes, cars, groceries, etc. I think there would be more patriotism if more people felt that their country cared about them. As it is, the only place the poor are accepted eagerly and can make a living (until they come home) are the armed forces where they are scouted by military recruiters in poor urban areas. I love our military and support them completely and recognize them as patriotic and in some instances absolutely necessary, but again, it is our job (We the People) to ensure those forces are being used in a patriotic way, that their trust and devotion to our country (us) is not abused by misusing them.
