As strange as this will sound to those who read my replies...I really, really like this one, and I give it a 10!
Why? Because it has Ogden Nash written all over it! Not only does the image work, but it is both surprising and surprisingly deep! yes, it has that puckish "Nash" air, but it also implies more than what the words say...in a very deceptive way. Who are the babies? Are they really "babies"? or are they the images of those around us that "act" like a bunch of babies as they point and laugh at things we've done wrong...and as we listen to their laughing, don't we picture this image in our minds of them choking, turning red and then exploding? Of course! That's why I think this poem is "brilliant"! It does everything a poem is supposed to do...and does it in just four lines. It doesn't get much better than that...it's the kind of poem that haunts your subconscious with its images and subliminal meaning.
Well done, very, very well done!
