I know people sometimes need guns to protect themselves ,but there's no doubt that its way too easy for just anybody to get guns. Also, I think that there are many types of guns that simply shouldn't be sold to the public.

I'm not saying people shouldn't have guns, just that should be controlled better than they are. There are plenty of places I could go and just pick up any gun, I shouldn't be able to own a machine gun ,for instance.

more people are killed by knives
what about cars
true gun control wont do any good...........
if you want to save the life of a child.......more kids drown in backyard swimming pools every summer than ten years worth of gun related deaths.......
a gun is a tool....not a magic wand
the current view and attitude of college educated Americans are against the use of hand tools of any kind......guns somehow got associated with "getting your hands dirty"................
listen kid.............people have died for the right to keep and bear arms......something not to be thrown away lightly........and think.........just your right to mouth off like you are now.....is also a hard fought and won right..........and your rights are fought for with guns.............
I am in favor of a national law that will allow ANY lawful American to carry a concealed weapon...
we need to take back the streets from the gangs and punks.....and I cant think of a better way to start than to "defend" our property or lives against these inner city cockroaches........
get real.........the most dangerous element in society

You don't know much about the subject.
There is a lot of law now on the books restricting who can buy, and what kind of guns can be bought.
(Eg. : Just try to buy a machine gun, or even a handgun, (most places), and see how far you get.)
You're probably an urban dweller. - Out in the country, guns are so commonplace that they're considered just everyday tools. - And they are.
The Anti-Gun lobby laments that there are "over 150 million guns in this country". (Their figures)
Think about that number. There are only about 300 Million people here. How many house-holds?
All those guns didn't just show up. They were chosen, bought and paid for, with hard earned cash.
I'd say the people have already voted on this issue.
As to the motivation for all this anti-gun media blitz:
It is not a popular movement. It is a political move by an elitist clique.
If I were a member of the 5% of the population who hold 95% of the wealth, I'd be a bit disturbed that the other 95% of the population had access to guns too.

It is the personal belief of mine that gun control does not and will not every work. Now, although the gun ban info you have is quite intriguing it does not mean it is true. I am spending alot of my time to verify all that you said to further my argument that gun control does not work. What I can say that a victim that fires back LIVES LONGER. That is the truth because that person ahas something to defend themeselves with. If the people in all the countries listed were to have had guns and the government still tried to kill them they would ahve been met with armed resistance and a there would eb a much smaller body count. I dont want to venture far from topic but when the colonists fought for the freedom of the colonies to give us America there was the Minutemen (Militia) and the Military. The militia was almost entirely armed with Kentucky Long Rifles while the military was armed with smooth bore muskets. The long rifle was rifled which made the bullet go straiter and it went farther. When our forefathers wrote the Bill of Rights it was their intent to make sure that that always stayed the same that the US citizens had equal footing with that of a government controled miltiary incase the US government became corrupt the citizens could fight back.

The founding fathers could never have predicted where we are now.
To them, ownership of guns was a way to prevent the government from usurping their rights. That is not the case today.
I'm not opposed to guns. I have several, and don't intend to give them up. However, the second amendment is, in my opinion, largely misconstrued.
I think that reasonable people should be able to agree that assault weapons are not "needed" by the average citizen. If you want a pistol to protect your family, or a shotgun to hunt with, fine. However, I see no good reason for anyone, other than a soldier, to possess an assault rifle.

I would like to address your 1st and last part of your question...
* 1st part, "I know people sometimes need guns to protect themselves",
I agree, and I'm certainly glad that includes you and I should we ever determine that we need that option.
** Last part, "I think that there are many types of guns that simply shouldn't be sold to the public".
I agree, (but that is not our current reality) and I'm certainly glad that includes you and I to be able to also do the same, should we find ourselves, when that day comes, that we are able to completely and honorably defend ourselves and families because of our own overwhelming and superior fire power.

Outlaw people who would abuse a gun. In England there is just as much danger. Just you get stabbed to death or beaten with a piece of steel or a bat. I own 5 guns none have ever harmed a human.

If you don't have control of your gun, you can miss your target completely, especially if he is moving.
