If someone has caught you in a lie, what is the best way to get out of it?

There's no way to get out of a lie other than admitting that you lied to begin with, apologize and don't do it again. When you lie you have to keep making things up to cover the last one...it's called "back-pedaling". Just fess up and move on!

Admit it and apologize. State “I lied for what ever reason and I truly regret doing so.”
The problem with lies is that one seldom remembers phony details where as the truth comes natural, because one actually experiences the truth! One may tell a lie to avoid pain, but doing so usually compounds the misery (a lie adds insult to injury). Personally I prefer to address problems honestly and openly as they come about, so to resolve it and get on with my life.

There is no best way. Woman can use it's that time of the month and buy time, or cry, or suduce him, Men don't admit it, or say they already told you, you must have forgot, why bring it up now. Justify it, Would you rather me tell you or someone else, if this is what i'm going to get then why would i want to be honest with you we were happier with the lie, or I diddn't want to fight or hurt you

There isn't a way to get out of a lie. Once you are caught lying, it's impossible to escape.

Appologies and make up an excuse to why you lied then tell the trueth. If they know you lied then the trueth wont hurt and dont try to lie again lying is the worst thing you can do.

I guess the obvious answer is to confess. But, I think you mean how to avoid confessing. I would just play dumb and act confused like you didn't understand the question or you took it to mean something completely different.
It was all a misunderstanding.
Or just say you were drunk!
