That's a question that I've been chewing on for some time now...
Some people say that our purpose is to live... It's true, but not complete. Our purpose is to live well, enjoy life at its best, and die happy eventually. Because if you think about it, almost nothing we do during our life will matter after we die. Even if we're an important person and people remember us, so what? Once you're dead, you're dead.
What I've come to realize is that we probably don't have a file up in the sky, where God has written what we should do. Instead, I think we have to choose our path. We find out what we like to do, what we're good at, what nobody else can do but us, and we do it the best we can.
A cool analogy from a book is "finding our place in a puzzle to which we're the only piece that fits". This makes you realize that even though we are no different than everyone else, we're this big mass of people, but we are also very unique, no one else can take our place in the puzzle.
On the other hand, if you think about life, all living organisms have the purpose to procreate. So I think we're here to do that too, but until then, we have to get ready to find the best possible partner and the means to support our future offspring. This is what doing what we like is for.
There's a lot more to say, but this should be enough for now.
For a new perspective on this, watch the movie "The Secret" ( http://thesecret.tv/ ). If you can't find it, I can send it to ya.
Take care, and... have a great life!

There is no purpose in life unless there is a Creator. By definition, purpose requires a plan and a plan requires a Planner.
“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell (noted philosopher and mathematician)
Evolution is a mindless natural process like weather and just as weather cannot grant purpose to a cloud, evolution cannot grant purpose to us. So living, dying and reproducing are NOT purposes under evolution.
Perhaps you are seeking some sort of feeling. You can psych yourself out to get good feelings. It requires a good deal of self deception.
But if you want real purpose and real meaning, you have to seek your Creator.

Boy, you must be having a bad day. So, I guess my purpose is to cheer you up. Everyone has a purpose in life. Some people may have a substantial pupose. For example, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. And maybe your purpose may not be as grand, but it is just as important. So, I hope you find your purpose. Try to have a wonderful day.

The human race in total has a purpose, but just what that purpose is seems to be secret. The designer of this 'Fun House' deliberately left it out of the Obvious.
Therefore , I conclude that being privy to this information should not be a hinderance to my fullfilling said purpose. Could it be that the 'Purpose' is to have fun and try not to hurt anyone else? Your guess is as good as anyone's.

Not really, you have free will though, if you don't have a God, then you know nothing bad will happen when you die. Although, the morality of the average person in the North will let you think that you have to do good for those around you. That is your purpose.

What is the purpose of life?
This is the one question to which most of us are longing to find an answer. We find ourselves driven and pulled in different directions by inner urges, longings , and desires which we don not seem able to satisfy. So what do you think the purpose of life is? I asked the same question a few days ago. So I will answer my own question, each of us was put on this earth with a gift or talent, and I is up to each of us to find it, and with this talent or gift we will find a higher power Called God you must believe to receive.

Sure, everyone does. One of your purposes is to try to convince people that there is no purpose in life.

God knew you before you was in you mothers womb, he even knew your name. Yes when he created you and others he had a purpose in mind for you. if we could all do what we were created for it would be a much better place, but sin in are lives can stop that purpose from being fulfilled, because we become blinded by the truth of where God wants us to go.

It is absolutely true.
We each have a purpose in life.
I can only speak from a Jewish perspective.
Judaism teaches that we are here on earth in order to give of ourselves to others.
We each have something to give.
It can be a smile, a piece of advice, some help with childcare, a listening ear, etc.
I am sure you have a great deal to give to those around you.
And as to your own special gift in life; ask yourself what makes you happy? What puts a smile in your heart and on your face?
The answers will come.
