We dont think about what could happen we wait until it happen did any one see how dark it was when the) moon move in front of the earth and block out the sun it was very dark , ,,, I use to talk about this all the time when i was on aol 25 to 30 people in the chatroom..

The moon can't stay there. It orbits the Earth, and won't suddenly just "stop".

Assuming it could though, it wouldn't be dark everywhere. The moon's shadow is not large enough to cover the entire Earth. As the Earth rotated and the day wore on, the moon would actually appear to move away from the sun in the sky due to parallax.

Of course it couldn't stay there, but if it did, there would be a permanent shadow on Earth. Only a very small part of Earth would be in complete darkness, because the shadow of the Moon is much smaller than the Earth, but the amount of sunlight reaching the whole Earth on average would be reduced enough to make global cooling I think.

If the moon stopped moving in its orbit aroun the earth, it would fall down into the earth.

Everything in the universe moves, so it would be impossible for the moon to stay there.
