I have a dell inspiron 9400(i think) i know its a dell inspiron though. When I charge my laptop the battery gets really really hot to the point where it worries me it will start on fire. It's been like this ever since I 1st got my laptop a few months ago. Is this normal?

Yes, this is totally normal. Be careful not to set your laptop anywhere that there is no way for air to circulate around it, like on your bed.

The little transformer box in the power cord gets hot too, so make sure it is in an open area, too.

Some of them do get warm to the touch, i for one would go to dells website and check and see if there is a recall on the battery for this laptop. when i plug mine in and charge it, my charger gets really warm to the touch,my batter does get warm but not enough to worry me. I would Definitely have it checked out.
