Depends on how well you know the people.
If they have a registry, I'd go by that.
If you're not very close with the, usually around 25.00 (according to etiquette).
If you're friends with them or if you're not immediate family standard is around 50.00.
If you're immediate family or you're in the bridal party, the standard is around 100.00.
But of course this varies depending on the area that you live in (could be more in bigger cities) or if the wedding is super elegant.
That's not my opinion, that's just standard.
I usually get something from the registry that's around 50 dollars no matter who it is.

It all depends on the couple..are they old-fashioned, old, young??? Do they have a gift registry? That would help you out tremendously! Some neutral gifts would be appliances, nice picture frame, linen etc... A personalized gift is always the right way to go! The cliche of giving a toaster is played out thank goodness, because there are a lot of toaster variations in the stores now a days. I just recently found one that has a coffee maker attached!! Go figure! Check them out! Hope this helps!

I'm thinking, MAPLE LEAF tickets.
Hockey can be used to teach a young Bride to, do what the puck Her Husband tells Her to and, if it doesn't work, sometimes a taste of the ol' High Sticking, is in order.

you can get them a nice appliance for their new home like rice cookers or pots and pans. they may need it, although it can be a bit pricey. or, you can get them a wedding scrapbook kit. it will help save memories.
