I noticed there are 3 numbers on the weed n' feed bags. How do you determine what you need when purchasing this stuff? My yard has a lot of weeds now, and we live in Illinois.

First, I would never buy weed and feed. I would first treat my lawn with a broad-leaf weed herbicide to kill the weeds. Once I've done that I would then broadcast a good all around lawn fertilizer. You'll probably want to make sure it has a high first number (Nitrogen). If you want to be more specific, contact your local County Extension Agent who can help you get a soil test to let you know what fertilizer you need. It is very inexpensive, in the neighborhood of $10-15.

Try visiting a nursery and talk to some people there and see what you can use for your garden and yard.
