Although Fieyr has a point about commiting to the jump, we all know from watching Olympics that men can jump higher and run faster. If female dancers may be concetrating on other aspects of the dance more than on commiting to the jump, all that athelets do is jump and jump, male or female. Of course, there are some outstanding ballerinas who have incredible leaps. My observation is in addition to hard work and talent they have long legs. Muscle mass, and the way the muscles are attached to the bone is what makes a lot of difference. Girls, I mean women, cannot develop their muscles to be just like like men's. Not possible.

I use to ride at a barn like that. They would not allow the lesson students to jump higher than 2`6. They would either have to lease or buy a horse and take lessons from the owner. It was kind of dumb. I guess it was because they were only coming out to ride once or twice a week. You need to be riding more often to jump higher. We jump different all the time. Sometimes we do flatwork lessons and boxes, while other days we put them up all the way to the top. I have shown up to 3`3 in the hunters and 3`0 in the jumpers. The highest I ever jumped in lessons was 4`6 when I had this crazy trainer. At my current barn we usually stick to the height we show. Sometimes we go a little higher. It`s always different. I realized that height of the jump does not matter at all. I can jump a box and a 4`0 oxer with the same ride. Nothing changes.

I've seen a lot of girls that don't really commit to the jump. Guys commit. Yes is has something to do with muscles and what not but girls can develop those muscles as well. I remember a movie I watched where this ship was sinking...might have been the titanic... but they were all yelling at this lady to jump from the ship down into the lifeboat... She basically stepped just barely off the edge of the ship and fell between the ship and the lifeboat. She didn't commit. Guys are more physically tuned for physical activity whereas girls have better motor skills. I think this results in girls trying to do things more calculated and carefully whereas guys rely more on their gut and just go for it.
