I am so glad for the PC!

aw jeeeze, I remember one guy in the dorm had an *electric" typewriter even ... tho you could rent typewriters in the library if you had to ... no interenet, you had to look things up in a card catalog and figure out how to find books on the shelves and magazines in the stacks

and use a slide-rule in physics and chemistry classes

"long division and logarithms"

big heavy atlases and encyclopedias

in HS I had to use a manual typewriter, tho I usually copped a plea and wrote papers longhand [I 'printed' vs 'cursive']


PC is waaay easier

honestly, tho .. there's "style" and there's "content"
PC doesn't appear to assist the "content" part

I do remember typewriters - I did have one once - but I don't think I ever used them for schoolwork. I am glad of computers, too!

Sorry, I've been around computers for 20 years, there was no typewriter for me

Yes, I remember them. My Dad owned a busines that sold and repaired them. I remember using carbon paper under the typing paper to make a copy.I remember using "white out" to correct mistakes. In college, it was necessary to have one....as necessary as it is now to have a laptop computer.
