Psuedephedrine, it is a decongestant that Sudafed used to be made of. It works great for sinus symptoms like pain, congestion and can help for symptomatic relief of a sinus infection. However it is a stimulate, and druggies of the world figured out a way to make it into meth. For this reason, it is controlled, and you have to go to the counter to get it. It is still available without a prescription, it is just kept behind the counter, instead of out on display. Anyhow.. it works really well.. I hope this helps.

Based on what I know...
As long as a doctor approves take an OTC congestion and pain-killer to help ease the discomfort and open up your sinuses.
Using a basic nasal saline solution several times a day will help clear out the infection. It might create some discomfort for a few seconds so be ready. And it does not taste very good...but it really does help!
Hot tea w/honey will help with the pain also. The steam will help with the sinuses, while the actual tea will help sooth your throat.
Have you seen the doctor?

Obviously you are suffereing from an infection localized in the area (sinuses and adyacent tissue), untreated. My best advice is go to a Doctor; he'll prescribe for it, considering your baby. Specially if you said you had discharge, which is pus; this means your body is fighting the invaders, but you do not know "who" they are. For this there would be required to make a culture and determine what knid of antibiotic is required. Beside administering antibiotics, the fight is done by your inmune system, which - obviously - is under a lot of stress. Clean the are with topic cleanser and gargle with Cepacol (it has antibacterioal in it); have lots of onion, that may help the inmune system.

Your best bet is a Neti Pot.

In the U.S., sinus problems is the #1 reason people see a doctor. With increasing pollution and chemicals in our environment, there is an enormous rise in the number of people who suffer various forms of nasal congestion and respiratory illnesses. Alternative health practitioners throughout the world recommend the regular practice of nasal cleansing using a saline solution as part of a regular regimen of health and wellness, a basic health-maintenance activity equal to flossing your teeth. Neti is a gentle, safe, efficient way to deliver a good cleansing dose of saline to the nose.

Although the practice of nasal irrigation originated in India, today there are numerous people in Europe and the United States who use this simple technique as part of their daily routine.

The first step--a simple one that really work--is to drink a lot of fluids. The additional liquid will help keep the mucus flowing. Hot beverages--herbal teas, and soups--are especially good. It might sound odd, but it's helpful to lower your nose to a hot drink and take a deep breath. This will help keep your nasal passages open.

If you want to take an over-the-counter medication to relieve sinus congestion get a single-action one that's geared only to relieve like Sudafed. Avoid antihistamines, as they dry nasal secretion and can ultimately make you more congested.

TAKE:
Vitamin C: 1,000 to 2,000 mg a day.
Quercetin: 500 mg, two a day.
Vitamin A: 10,000 IU once a day.
N-acetylcysteine: 200 mg, three a day. It can help reduce the incidence of chronic sinusitis.

I recommend you use a nasal cleansing pot(also known as neti pot)..it really clears sinus problems, allergies, and colds..My mom suffers from chronic sinus and I made her use the netti pot and now her sinuses have improved, especially the sinus pain. You can only find them in a health food store.. It's definitely better than taking all those over the counter pill which can be harmful by the way.. This pot cleanses ..draining all the mucous...Hope this helps..I'm also providing you links to a website..

maybe you would like to try what the specialist had my son to do after surgery. especially if you buy salt water spray to put up you nose.
get a gallon of distilled water
mix 8 tablespoons of canning salt
4 tablespoons of baking soda
put this in the gallon of water. much stronger than salt water you buy. then buy a baby nose thing to squirt the water up. do each side with a cup of water. at least 2 to 3 times a day.
my son says its the best thing he ever used

you want to buy a neti pot, I don't believe in taking supplements, so eat fruit instead like kiwi, strawberries and citrus fruits. Also make olive leaf tea it is a very strong antibiotic and anti viral herb.
