What Substrate should I use for my LEOPARD GECKO?

If your Gecko is very young just keep it on paper towels or newspaper. Young geckos can ingest sand and cause a fatal impaction.
If your gecko is older you can use a Calci-sand or sand that is made just for geckos and other desert creatures My geckos are older and I do keep them on a calci - sand but my guys are breeder size. Make sure the gecko has plenty of good hiding places and a low water dish. I also put a covered box in my cage with damp moss or vermiculite for shedding. Use an old piece of tupperware or something like that and cut a hole in the side so the gecko can go in two shed his skin.

Loose substrate is the number one cause of intestinal impactions which can lead to death. NO sand or loose substrate! Ceramic tile, paper towels, repti carpet, or non-adhesive shelf liner (which is what I use--buy a roll in the kitchen dept. at Walmart--no glue on the back as glue is toxic if heated). Easy to clean and looks nice. In native environment Leos are not forced to eat their food off of loose sand! Plus, loose substrate is difficult to clean and holds a ton of bacteria.

I would get either Vita-Sand or Calci-Sand because even if they are accidentally swallowed, they provide either vitamins or calcium!

vita-sand...its cheaper and plus, leopard geckos dont burrow...so there would b no point in getting the other because it would b defeating its purpose

They are right use paper towels. Don't use newspaper the ink can stain there feet.
