I think it's a timing issue. We on the west coast don't start night games until 7 PM PST, which is 10 PM EST. So, very few people on the east coast are even up to watch games on the west coast.

However, we on the west coast can see your 7 PM EST games at 4 PM PST. So, we watch games on the east coast while waiting for our games on the west coast.

Sports writers are the same way. If they are in large media markets on the east coast, they see more of the east coast games than they do the west coast games. So, they are more familiar with the players on east coast teams and those players come to mind first when the writers are thinking about what kind of article to write or for whom they are voting for the All Star game.

But, sportswriters on the west coast see all the games equally. So, they are just as likely to choose accolades or write about east coast players as west coast players.

You answered your own question. Its the time factor. The big TV market is on the eastern seaboard which is three hours time difference. The average baseball games runl less than three.

Unfortunately when the west coast games begin at around 7:00PST and that is exactly the time when the News Hours appear on almost every every eastern station. And they do like their news.

To move away from that time slot to the 4:00 means that you would conflict with the eastern local games so again you wouldn't get coverage. Do you think for one minute the eastern view will pick the Angels home game ovrer the Yankees home games. I think not.

In the west if you start at 4:00 it wouldn't work then either. Between 2 and 5:30 the soaps run. An angry baseball fan is small stew compared with the big crap volcano explosion from a screaming upset soap fan. Most of those are women waiting for their spouses to return from work. Never kick a dozing bear.

Another problem with the 4:00 slot. It would have to play against Oprah... OOHHHH oh. oh. That wouldn't work.

Also the 4:00 pm PST wouldn't work since that wouldn't fill the stadium.

And the one PM doesn't work because in the east Oprah is on along with the Soaps. it is 4:00 pm in the east.

Literally baseball appears not to exist west of the Mississippi because of all these problems.

If you aren't on television you do not exist. But it would be easier to move the team.

two of the biggest markets in the World Boston and New York love baseball. if they loved Football the way they love Baseball you would hear about the Giants, Jets, and patriots more.
