Yes. The Jeanne Cleary Act of 1965. It's a federal law. It was renamed in memory of a Lehigh University student who was murdered in 1986 in 1990.

Most public colleges have their own independent police departments, and they generally will not report crimes to other police agencies. However, under the law the above poster cited, colleges are required to make public crime statistics for their campuses.
