In the state where I live it is still legal to use a cell phone while driving and I do occasionally but I try to avoid it if at all possible because I drive a five speed, and even if I had an automatic it is still safer to not drive and talk on the cell phone at the same time.
You do want us to answer this truthfully right? I see by the answers almost no one admits to doing it but if that is true who are all the people I see driving around talking on them?

No. People who do should be hung by their pinky toes. It's rude and you're not paying attention. I know I'll probably get a millions thumbs down on this, but it's just my opinion. I almost got in an accident 3 days ago because a woman wasn't paying attention and pulled out infront of me because she was yacking on her cell phone. People put the phone down and drive.

I really recommend not to talk on the cell phone during driving!

Yes but I try to always use my hands free. I have to drive to and from LA and San Diego, so I need to use that time to catch up on phone calls.

No it is nearly as dangerous as driving drunk. It is a bad habit even if you use wireless pieces. Think of it this way, do you want to endanger harmless kids everytime you get into your car and you don't even know it because you are on your phone? That will get you to stop.

Only if absolutely necessary. If I get a call while driving, I will TRY to find a place to pull over. I don't initiate calls while I'm actively steering my car. I don't have "hands-free" either, and have never felt the need for it.

Nope, I do keep it on, but if it rings, I never answer, I look at the missed calls list when I get a chance (red light, traffic jam, or whatever.) Anyway it's illegal where I live...

NOPE. I'M A NEW DRIVER, I JUST RECENTLY GOT MY LICENSE (i'm 18). I DON'T TALK ON THE PHONE WHILE DRIVING CAUSE I DON'T WANT TO GET DISTRACTED. HOWEVER, IF I REALLY NEED TO TAKE THE CALL, OR IF I NEED TO CALL SOMEBODY, I USUALLY PULL OVER AND PARK SOME WHERE. I WOULDN'T WANT TO PUT MY LIFE IN RISK AND OTHER PEOPLE IN RISK BY TALKING ON THE PHONE WHILE DRIVING.
