The store I work at is getting closed down. It's not "official" but it's getting there. Anyway, I've only worked there for 2 months (there's a 6 month probationary period). Do you think I qualify for severance pay?

No...you probably won't qualify for severance pay but depending on your work history you probably will be able to draw unemployment for up to 6 months depending on your work history. If you have not paid any unemployment in you may not be able to draw much.

I doubt it. Severence pay is not really that common these days. I certainly would not expect it after working for a place for less than a couple of years.

Employers are not required to pay severance. Look at your employee handbook to see if your employer offers it. Since they are going out of business, they're probably not paying anyone severance.

Probably not. If the company offers it, by all means gladly accept it. But your chances of being offered after only two months are rather slim.
