well, everyone at some point of there lives has said sumthing witty to a family member or somone else. My question is can you build this trait? if so how, and does anyone know what part of the brain it originates.

In order to be successfully witty one has to be knowledgeable in general and also specifically concerning the subject one is commenting on. Otherwise what you have is simply a smartass remark. So, build up your knowledge and understanding overall, then find the humour in it all.
