I say stop jailing some of these non violent drug users who aren't harming anyone but themselves and make some room for the rapists, pedophiles, stalkers, abusers of all kinds and murderers, unless the drug offender has violated the rights of others.
And if it is true about 'diddlers' ending up murdered in prison why are there so many registered sex offenders free in society?
I don't think enough of them get killed in prison.

Traditionally these gross perversions have always been more prevalent amongst the ruling classes, that's why there is this legacy of crimes against property being treated as more serious than crimes against the person!
They should never let them out! Care in the community is a licence to re-offend! It should never be an option for those that might harm others! Why do they keep putting lives at risk?
The least punished are the violent or the sickos!
The most severely punished are the ones that would benefit from care in the community! 'John himself' is dead right! doesn't deserve a thumbs down!

Diddlers (the prison term for pedophiles) usually do more time than thieves & duggies. You see, time in prison isn't always measured in days. It's HOW the prisoner does his time that really counts. A diddler has to watch over his shoulder every minute of every day because, if a regular prisoner gets the chance, he'll shiv (stab) the diddler in a heartbeat. If he succeeds, the status of the regular prisoner goes up. Other regular prisoners will look up to him. Prisoners HATE diddlers a thousand times more than people in outside society. So if a diddler serves three years and lives through it, those will be like a regular prisoner doing 5 years. But I agree with you. Why waste taxpayers' money trying to rehabilitate diddlers? If they get convicted, they should be put away like diseased animals (which basiacally what they are).

I'm not sure that they get less time, but I do think that in many cases they get released early due to good behavior. By nature and circumstances (prisoners don't like child molesters) they tend to keep to themselves do their work, and maintain pleasant realationships with prison staff--as a result they get put up for parole earlier...not saying its right, just saying thats what happens in some instances.
And yes, I agree hang 'em.

Why do people who rob banks and armoured cars get huge amounts of years on their sentence, But if you murder an old lady you can be out in 8 to 10 years. Country has lost sight of the important things in life, such as life it's self.

What are drug users doing in prison in the first place? Let them out and make room for the pedophiles.

They don't and there are a lot of people posting on this topic who clearly know nothing about the Criminal Justice System.

it does make me wonder about the people who sentance these people i know alot of judges have been caught for child porn and things like that. I personaly could not stand there looking at a man who mollested a kid and say i sentance you for 3 years or something like that it is way too soft and beleive me if i was a police man arresting one he would not make it to court

Well, by the time they get out, the child they molested is grown so they have lost interest.
That almost made sense didn't it?
I agree. Burn 'em all.

Bit of both I would imagine ...
And in the UK crimes against property usually carry a higher sentence than crimes against the person anyway.
