My betta fish's tank gets foggy within two days of me cleaning it and it has also started to loose its color and just lays at the bottom of the tank! Is my fish dying? What can i do?!?!?!?

It sounds as though this might be a new tank, and if so, the cloudiness in the water is normal. When you feed your fish, it produces wastes, including ammonia. Normally, ammonia is converted to nitrite then nitrate by bacteria in the tank, but yours probably doesn't have enough bacteria to convert it all yet. Since there's extra ammonia and/or nitrite, the bacteria are reproducing to take advantage of what is to them a food source. It's this fast reproduction (called a bacterial bloom) that makes the water look cloudy.

Even though the ammonia and nitrite are good for the bacteria, they aren't good for your fish - they're toxic! So until you get enough bacteria (this will take 3-6 weeks), do 25% water changes every week if the tank is filtered to keep the levels down. If your betta doesn't have a filter, or it's in a bowl, do 100% changes every 3 days.

Yes, your fish is dying.

The fog is a bacterial bloom and has by now infected your fish internally.

Do an immediate water change and give his tank and everything in it a good scrub out. Only use dechlorinated water and buy some anti internal bacteria meds (I rec myacin and myacin2) and treat him for 9 days.

Something is wrong in your tank. Either the filter isn't cycled or if you have no filter, you are over feeding him and not cleaning his tank out properly.

This happens because there is no current in the bowl and because you are overfeeding him. Cut way back on the food, and it will stay clear and you betta should return to normal.

I am sooooo sorry but I think it is. How big is your tank? If it is really small then that might be why but anyways...Sorry if it is...
