No that would be a touchdown

Not sure what you mean, the umpire does not catch the ball at home plate, the catcher does.
But if you deliberately knocked it down, it would be interference, and you would be called out.

The umpire will not be catching a ball, the catcher will. If you swat the ball down from the catcher's mitt, you will be called out for interference for deliberately attempting to disrupt play, if the swat is deliberate in the opinion of the umpire. If you happen to collide with the catcher because you believe him to be standing in the basepath without having possession of the ball, and as a result the ball is dropped by the catcher, you will be safe if you touch the plate and do not actively swat the ball out of the catcher's mitt, in the umpire's judgement. If the catcher has no possession when you contact him in the baseline, and the catcher is not attempting to field a batted or thrown ball, that is obstruction, and the run will score because of this as the runner is awarded the plate, also in the judgement of the umpire. It is only considered a home run if the batter-runner scores a run during the same play in which this batter has hit the ball, and during which, no errors have occured by the defense, no obstructions nor interferences have been called, and the batter-runner has run around the bases successfully on his own merit. These are all of Rule 7.XX, MLB Rulebook.

Considering that the Umpire shouldn't catch the ball (that is the catcher's job) and there shouldn't be any "swatting" involved...I can not answer your question.

Umps don't catch a ball that is in play, that would be the catcher's job. A runner cannot intentionally interfere with a ball in play,he will be called out if he does.

Why would the umpire be catching the ball?

ANY time the ball hits you (while not on base or at bat), then you are out. Usually this only happens when you are caught in a run-down between two bases ;);)

If the ball hits you while you are running between any base you are automatically out.
