I remember that one math project was about running a business. We would think of a business that we would like to start. Then we would have to give a copy of our plan with the following included:
1. Type of business and why we choose the business.
2. Interview someone who has a business similar to the one we picked or has advice to give us about what we will need to start this business.
3. Research and list all of the types of equipment and supplies that we need to start our business. Include both fixed and variable costs and the prices for our materials.
4. Decide what we can charge for our customers for our service.
5. Make a chart showing our expenses and income.
6. Make an expense and a cost equation.
7. Show where we will break even in our business.
8. Conclude with a paragraph stating additional information about our business or any knowledge we have gained during the project.

Hope this helps.

I like participatory projects. This one is pretty easy; let the participants toss a set of dice and keep record of it. Then you can see how the actual probability of throws agrees with the theoretical probability of throws. You could make up a chart showing how the theoretical probability is computed (it is not all that difficult; you can even figure it out based on possible outcomes).

Making geometric shapes from construction paper (in 3D). I loved that one when I was in school. Some kids got really intricate with their designs . . . made a ball out of squares, hexagons, and triangles. It was amazing (about the size of a soccer ball, maybe a little bigger)!

Might create an elaborate tessalation (sp?) too.

try doing a trigonometry project, it would really impress your teachers and its not actually that hard. its also very easy to apply to something in real life. eg. Finding the angle you need to hit the ball in a game of pool to sink the shot. you'll need some one else to explain it to you on your calculator.

Well, I remember in geometry class we had to make a mobile out of perfect shapes - equal-sided pyramids, etc. Maybe that would work...?
