Hurricanes suck!

Hurricane season officially starts June 1st and finishes November 30th so your best bet would be to hit the Bahamas during the spring, late autumn or winter... take your pick!

In other words, the month of September probably isn't the best time to go to the Islands but then again, hurricanes might not hit landfall in the Bahamas (or the U.S.), just like last year, who knows?

Enjoy your vacation regardless!

I'm from the Bahamas and hurricanes are not as common as some would like to think. Sept.is usually very busy in the season but thats only if its still hot once the water temps start to cool off its not a real concern. Nassau is in the central bahamas and lots of storms come via the atlantic or gulf so Nassau tends not to get very much unless the storms rips right up the middle of the archipelago. The weather is actually quite nice in sept. we may get a lot of rain if storms are travelling but generally our rainy season is more June and July. In any event if a hurricane does pose a threat. ALL hotels have a safety plan and safe places for guests. It probably one of the best places to be their wrell equiped for it. A lot of locals actually check into hotels for storms. They have generators. lots of food/water/drinks, blankets entertainment etc.

Sept. is still hurricane season but nearer the end than the beginning. Atlantis is so huge that it is probably the safest place to be in the Caribbean if there is a hurricane!
Usually if it rains there it is over within an hour then the sun comes back out.

clarity gave a good answer.as one who has lived in the Caribbean 35 years and written a book on hurricane preparation......

well, yeah Sept is the statistical height of hurricane season, just as January would be the statistical height of blizzard season......

but just because there is a hurricane somewhere out there....or even two or three at a time, which I've seen.....doesn't mean that one of them is going to affect Nassau.....even a close pass will be no more than a day of bad weather....

so sure yore running a risk of a having a REALLY EXCITING trip, but not an impossible risk to overcome

you may stay on the sea coast Tower for with regard to the comparable value as convenience Suites. i think of that's worth it to stay on the Atlantis in simple terms strolling the halls and the room service yet i would not pay to stay interior the Royal Tower. do no longer ignore to consume at Anthony's suitable foodstuff on the Island.

yes. the summer months and early fall are definitely hurricane season--the best time to travel to the bahamas is late spring--just before it gets too hot--and late fall--when the hurricanes have abated. although, i have to say there hasn't been a hurrican so far this year and you might just get lucky.
