w^2 + 8w +16
= w^2 + 4w + 4w + 16
= w(w+4) + 4(w+4)
= (w+4)^2

You coud recognize that the equation is in the form of
x^2 + 2xy + y^2 = (x+y)^2

w^2 + 8w +16
= w^2 + 2*4*w + 4^2
= (w+4)^2

w² + 8w +16

Learn this form. It’s one of a few you need…
a² + 2ab + b² = (a + b)²

In this case a = w and b = 4

So the factors are
(w + 4)(w + 4) or (w + 4)²
