I blame King George - that little bugger should've backed down. We'd still be part of England!

Obviously you don't know your history. The Europeans that invaded Africa and started the slave trade didn't come in nice, asking the Africans if they wanted to cooperate. They brought guns with them. It was more of either cooperate with me, and you get something in return or die. Africans sold out other Africans to save their own lives. And blacks do not see racism in everything. Whites over generalize and think that we're offended by every little thing, when half of the situations you guys think you're being careful about because you don't want to come off as a racist isn't. You over think everything which shows your ignorance and how much you don't know about black people. Second of all the majority of the poor in America are minorities which is why so many organizations give scholarships, to give people an opportunity for education. Not all, but the majority of white people are more privileged then any other race in America. So get over yourself and stop complaining.

It's the folks who's first (and often only) impulse when confronted with a crisis is to place blame on someone else. ;)
There have always been problems in every society. There have always been problems in ours. There always will be. Looking for a scapegoat might, at times, be an effective strategy, but it's not a very intellectually honest one. Looking for solutions is better than placing blame.

Life is to short to worry about blame in most of the problems in this country. Too many people are worried about blamiing someone instead of trying find solutions. Real solutions not socialist rhetoric either. Socialism stifles creativity and encourages apathy. More innovations have been provided under capitolism than any other system the world has had. In the shortest amount of time. Even with its problems it works.
Stepping off of my soapbox.

The blame goes to everyone. The Democrats and the Republicans, and every other politician who sold out the American people for their own interests, be they corporate or otherwise. The MOST blame however goes to the many American people for sitting by and letting this happen with no protest, no phone calls, no letters, no nothing. We are losing our freedoms not by force but by lack of use. Our liberties are like muscles, if they are not exercised they will eventually go away and be be useless. Taken away by default.

First of all, this is still a great Country, all be it one with problems. It just seems to me that we've lost our way-our focus so to speak.
The words enscribed on The Statue of Liberty welcoming the downtrodden are no longer a part of our national fabric, and that's a shame! Our idealism has been replaced by cyncism. Our genorosity has been replaced by sel-serving greed. Our solidarity has been surplanted by partisanship.
For allowing this to happen we're all to blame, but I think the real instigators have been the GOP. Their idological fanaticism and negativity toward anyone who questions them have been the most devisive factors I've witnessed during my lifetime. It seems they live by the advice of Newt Gingrich (one of the architects of our current state of affairs), "Go negative early"!

Lack of shame
Everything is someone elses fault. From alcohol abuse (it is not my fault...it is now a disease) to Bush going to war in Iraq (it's not my fault...the intelligence on WMD was flawed).
People need to start standing up and taking true responsibility for their mistakes. We all learn from mistakes. There is nothing wrong with the shame involved with making a mistake publically.
Oh yeah, kids should lose their soccer games too. None of this "we don't keep score crap." Kids need to learn what disappointment feels like or they will grow up blaming everyone else for their disappointments, mistakes, and failures.

I blame us. The citizens of the US for not being more tenacious. We sat by complacently thinking the government would do what was best. We The People need to begin acting like We The People.

i blame the citizens for reacting so surprisingly toward such events as 9/11 and other out of country situations. such things are inevitable and will continue to harm our way of life as long as we act as if our pride is the only thing this country can lose....in other words, we are too afraid to act on our feelings of hatred toward terrorists trying to kill infidels...

Well the problems come from the people. When they elect idiots like Teddy Kennedy you have to wonder; and then there is the folks in Florida that elect a wanabe child molesting homosexual pretending to be a Republican and lets not forget the real idiots in New Orleans who re elect a congressman with $100k in bribe money in his freezer.

While the illiberals have caused many problems you have to blame Bush because he's the president and the buck stops there.
