Funny you should ask that, I had a fun job that I enjoyed, but couldn't feed my family with the pay. I rose quickly but still had to sacrifice for the family. I have no regrets but I hated my higher paying job with a passion

Whats that old saying? "Find a job you love and you'll never work another day in your life." I haven't found that job yet, but I am working on it diligently. I can tell you that I have experienced high paying jobs as well as low paying jobs and I was miserable in the jobs where I made good money. Money is not worth it at all. If there is a way to find a job you love and get paid well for it, then you have it made. I'm not sure that exists though. I too would rather just be poor and happy with what I do rather than make good money and be miserable.

If you have a clearly defined financial goal like paying of debt then it may be good to stay in a dreadful job until that goal is met. Otherwise it is better to cut your expenses and have an enjoyable job. The best plan is to find a high paying job that you do like.

That depends on how the dreaded job is affecting you. If the stress levels are giving you health issues, or eating up all of your time, you're not really gaining anything. If the job is low stress enough that you can survive for a while, combining high pay with strict savings is often a good way of accumulating enough capitol to set you up in a better situation, such as financing your entry into a job field that you would find more personally satisfying.
Personally, I would never keep a job I didn't enjoy for any longer than it took to set myself up in one that I could. Happiness keeps you healthy.

It's better to have an enjoyable job with low pay. Most people spend about half of their waking life at work. If you had a horrible job for 1/2 of your life, it wouldn't matter of you spent the other half of your life at Disneyland, you'd still be pretty miserable.
Also, just as an aside, it's even BETTER to have an enjoyable job with low pay and a family who is willing to go along with it.

I think I would rather have an enjoyable job with low pay, because you have to go to that job everyday, and you dont want a job where you are going to hate it everyday.
Guess it just depeneds on how much a person can take each day from a horrible job, and get tons of money

I'd take the enjoyable job with low pay any day over the other. Money's a nice thing to have, but it's just not worth being miserable over.

I wish I could tell you. I've only had enjoyable jobs with low pay and dreaded jobs with low pay.
I tend to believe that a higher paying job that sucks...means that it's suck because you aren't able to enjoy the high pay because you are always invloved with the dreaded job.

hmmmm this is hard. I'm inclined to say enjoyable job with low pay but I have to be realistic. I have bills to pay , places to discover, and dreams to realize. Having a low paying job won't help me achieve these. Can't I have both? Enjoyable job with high pay? It's not a myth you know... :)
