Several years ago I had an unusual experience concerning an uncle, a distant relative who lived over a thousand miles away.
While driving my car I suddenly felt the unmistakable presence of this relative that I hardly even knew. He was more like someone I had heard about than someone I knew. It was very strange; it felt as though I was momentarily lifted right out of my physical body. I seemed to be suspended somehow beyond space and time, bathed in a love so intense It felt like I could have just disappear into it at any moment if It would have let me. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed to last forever at the same time. I realize how crazy this must sound. The experience was so strong that at first I was afraid I was loosing my grip on reality. I finally managed to chalk it up to an over active imagination.
Three days later I got a call from my aunt telling me that this uncle we are talking about had gone into a coma and died the day I had the experience. It felt like ice water had been poured down my back when she told me this. I had lost any real ideas of God or faith and had become somewhat of an atheist. Needless to say this experience caused me to rethink some of the conclusions I had come to.
I feel blessed to now understand that even in our darkest confusion something loves us so much that it went out of its way to assist me and bring me back to a state of absolute certainty about Gods love for us.
During the experience it seemed like there was a vast amount of information that I was somehow allowed access to. One thing that I came away from this experience understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt was that any Idea that God is unhappy with us or would judge or allow us to be punished for any reason is simply impossible.
I can’t explain the love I felt with words. They simply don’t make words big enough or complete enough to do this. The only way I can begin to convey this love to you is to say that there was simply nothing else there. Nothing but love. No hint of judgment, no displeasure of any sort. It is as though God sees us as being as perfect as we were the day we were created. It is only in our confused idea of ourselves that we seem to have changed.
I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck. Love and blessings.
Your brother don

No, I don`t. I think most people believe in God because they sub-consciously believe in "Nothing."
They say well where did everything come from? How did everything get here? So they use the concept of a God to answer life`s mysterious questions. But what they don`t realize is that they actually believe in nothing. By saying how did everything get here is just like saying at one time everything was nothing. Nonsense - Energy never dies and Energy was never born it simply transforms and mutates into other forms. I believe in " The ALL" what I call God is the constant energy.

I believe there is a higher power and it goes by many names.
It is able to be anything anyone needs it to be.
It is the web that connects all our souls.
It can do anything, be anything and it belongs to every church, every religion and every season.
It is the beginning of time, the dreams we dream and the tears we cry.
It is the hope for better days, and the song our heart sings.
It is all things, to all beings, at all times.
And for the atheist it can even be your will and strength to believe in nothing at all.
Why? Why can't every one be right?
Everyone don't realize, they hold only a small part of it in their hearts and minds!

Wonders come across in life or the fact that Sun is blazing all through or the moon shining in its place. All these, I or you can't make them happen. We are able to enjoy the ocean or a gentle breeze. And when they go out of hand also I'm helpless. So I do believe in Creator or God or Nature -nomenclatures do not matter.Earlier I was convincing myself about a fallback strength needed for me for which God was essential. But now a state of surrender makes me feel His presence and I don't look forward to such a conviction. In a continued presence it doesn't matter what is going to happen.

I do believe in God because i was raised as a Roman Catholic. I studied in a Catholic School at St. Agnes Academy during my grade school. In High School at Sta. Maria Catholic School and in College at Aquinas University. In other words, the teachings of God is always part of our curriculum.
I really believe in God because He is the Great Creator of the world. Every morning you will see the beauty of the Sun as it rises from the East. The living and non-living things around you are proof that God really exist.
Therefore, I really really believed in God!!!

I can go on and on and on about why i believe in God, but i'll try to give you the short version instead.
To this day, no scientist anywhere can explain exactly how a baby can survive in the womb, surrounded by water for 9 months and do not take a breath and drown.
There are hundreds and thousands of other unexplainable things like that in the world that people try to explain away with unfounded theories.
But in my opinion, nothing exist out of thin air, everything has a creator and that is why i believe in God. Also, for all the wonderful things he's done for me in my life as well!!!!!!!!!

No, I am pretty much a lifelong atheist. I wasn't raised one, but became one through both my good conscience and my rational mind.
No offense, but most of the answers from believers make me want to bang my head against a wall. It reminds me in a painful way just how primitive and immature a species humanity still is. :(

Yes, I really really really believe in God.
I used to not believe in God. I was (as I've also observed with other people who don't believe in God) negative, destructive, lonely, cynical, isolated, and such. Everything seemed impossible for me so I used to not believe in myself and I gave up on my dreams.
Then I observed people who believe in God. What did I notice?
I noticed that people who believe in God believe in themselves. They are able to do great things that norm cannot comprehend or used to imagine impossible. People who believe in God are also cheerful and loving. It is easy for them to find ways to be simply happy and when disaster strikes, they're the most able to survive just because they hope on to something greater than themselves that they can depend on to. They see good things too in their everyday life that I just didn't see such that those things are manifested in their lives and not in mine.
So, which one should I be, knowing that I have the capacity to mold my life by the choices I make? Which one should I be knowing that either has different ways of seeing the world and choosing which things to see? Easy! So, I made my choice.
When I started to believe in God, I found God. I discovered that He was there all along with me eversince the beginning. I realized the great love He has for me and how He's been talking to me through my experiences eversince I was born. He showed me the things I can do and I accomplished great things from then on. Great miracles started to happen and they became easier to recognize as each day passes. Bad things didn't stop happening to me even though I am already believing in God, but I notice myself calm and strong during tribulations. I even found myself strong enough to help other people.
So, what will be my choice for the next years of my life then? Like what is said over and over again, my life depends on the choices I make. But now, I think it is easier to choose because God is now real to me. His voice is very clear. His presence is undeniable.
And also, I've already seen too much proof.
