All a sudden I feel like I can't breathe. Its feel like a tightening in my throat. I keep having to take big deeps breathe's in and then breathe out. Well, about 5 min. after it starting happening, I got really dizzy.
I'm still having breathing problems and still feel dizzy.
I'm 23 weeks pregnant.
Does anyone know why this is happening, what is causing it?

No, I don't think I'm allergic to anything. I ate some Taco Bell.... and believe me as much as I've eaten Taco Bell before in the past, I think I would know if I was allergic to their food and I got the same ole thing I get from there... didn't try anything new.

I'm not stressed, I don't have anxiety. I'm a normal. I have no known food allergies, I haven't taken any kind of medication.. it just came on suddenly. I'm laying in bed now hoping I'll start feeling better. The dizzy spell is coming and going.

I'm 20 weeks pregnant and I'm actually in the hosptial right now (I've been here 21 days and I'm having spinal surgery tomorrow morning), and I was having the same problem yesterday. My RN said it was just my organs moving around, the baby is growing, and my body is pumping more and more blood which can contribute to shortness of breath. She said it only gets worse as you go along. If it's something that's sudden, and really not normal, call your doctor immediately! It could be something else.

Good luck :)

Have you eaten or taken anything you might be allergic to? Allergies can cause a tightening in the throat that is very serious and you should go to the hospital now if you think that is it.

Otherwise, the baby might be pushing on your diaphragm - some women do experience shortness of breath during pregnancy. However, 23 weeks seems a bit early for that unless you have a really big baby. If this goes on for awhile (a few days or more) or if it interrupts your daily activities and sleeping then see your doctor.

Have you taken any medication or eaten anything you are allergic to? Allergic reactions can cause your throat to begin to close up. Bee stings? Anything different you might be reacting to. If it continues, call your Dr. You are probably getting dizzy from not enough oxygen. Do you have anxiety attacks, or are you really stressed all of the sudden?

Try breathing in thru your nose, slowly, then breathe out thru your mouth, slowly, with your lips pursed (like you are going to whistle) This willl help slow your breathing, and get you more oxygen to your brain. I have to do that when I have shortness of breath due to my lung disease. It helps with anxiety too.

Best bet is to call a Dr., or emergency room to be on the safe side. I hope you feel better soon. Can't take any chances when you're breathing for two.

Your not dying or anything so dont freak out....... Your baby is just laying on your lungs or just pushing them up against something. Try sleeping on one side every night..... Usually they say your right side is the good side for the baby. Although 23 weeks is kinda early to start having breathing pains, I can almost gaurentee you its normal. Cangrats and Good luck.

It is just your baby getting bigger putting pressure on your diaphragm. I know it is a terrible feeling but eventually your baby will drop and you will have pressure on your bladder. Pregnancy is just not very comfortable. If you have any concerns talk to your dr. or midwife, they can reassure you that everything is ok. Good luck only 17 more weeks.

I would go to the doctor as soon as possible. The baby could be causing some of the problem but I wouldn't think the tightening in the throat.

I know breathing hard and dizziness is normal but to a extent. It seems like you really need to go to the hospital. No matter how small you think the reason is, it could be something major.

do you have a short torso? if so as the uterus moves up it puts pressure on your lungs and makes it more difficult to breathe. I am also 23weeks and experience similar symptoms. if you lay down it is easier to breathe. good luck

Your baby is growing and your not able to fill your lungs completely. I would call your OB and lay down and take deep breaths... just relax dont panic it will make it worse...
