An engine is a mechanical device with many moving parts which need lubrication so that the moving parts move against each other. Oil is the stable liquid that performs this job well. However, all these moving parts have small gaps between them in order for them to be able to move against each other. So oil can get past a cylinder ring for example and then mixes with the gasoline and oxygen and is burned as part of the explosion that pushes the cylinder down. It can also leak from the engine block, oil pan or anywhere there is not a good seal to keep it where it´s suppose to stay.

the oil either burns from leaking into the cylinders or it leaks from a bad gasket and you notice it while it is in stationary or it leaks from a gasket like a main bearing seal which mostly only happens while moving so under the car you see it wet on the frame of the car. On top of the engine there is an oil plug and some people use it to add oil other people wait til it stops running and get another car

The only way oil can escape is if there is a leak or if you are burning oil. When oil is at high temperature it gradually burns or evaporate. Just think of boiling a cup of water. The water evaporates when its boiling. You're not gonna have the same amount of water from when you first put it in the pot. Thats why its always good to check your oil levels every month. Cuz its not good to run your car without oil. Low oil levels causes friction to your engine.

Oil is sprayed on the underside of the pistons in the engine. The edges of the piston are sealed against the cylinder walls by the piston rings. Tiny amounts of oil will always get past these rings. If your piston rings don't fit properly, a lot more oil will escape into the combustion chamber.

You have to remember that the oil is being circulated through out the engine when it is running. If there is a leak in the engine, with worn pistons, or leaky valve guides then oil will be used. The same holds true if there are any other leaks will seals or gaskets. good luck.

it can leak or get burned with the air/fuel mixture due to engine wear.
Check your oil! Start looking for another car because after "crunchy sound" it doesn't have long to live.

Oil will leak out poorly sealed gaskets and burn off. Dont kill your engine... keep the oil in there.

the only ways your oil runs out is that it either is leaking or your engine is burning oil. the ways your engine can burn oil is if your piston rings are worn out, or if your valve seals are worn. if your car is in good condition then it wont use up oil. if you see blue smoke coming from your tailpipe, then you are burning oil. if you see oil spots were you normally park your car, then it is leaking.

it leaks out poorly sealed gaskets, blows past pistons rings and gets burned in the cylinder with the gas, or drips out of a cracked filter.
