Despite the general concensus that until Hillary there has been no candidate, the real issue is-is the country ready for a woman. Why is India ready as a muslim country with a young democracy and not us?
I don't buy that it has been a lack of candidates. Look how long it has taken us to have a female Speaker of the House in Congress.
It's because in the US power is still for men and that's the way they want it.
I grew up with a single mother and I think women are great and I know there are many people out there today my age who feel the same. So Hillary I hope you are ready!

There hasn't been a qualified women to run for president until now. We beat India in so many ways, there is no comparison.

Gender does not a president make.
We will have a woman president when we find one who is capable of performing the job. Hillary is not that woman and to force her upon the nation based upon her sex is the epitome of sexual discrimination and ignorance.
It serves no purpose at all.

Probably because there hasn't been a woman that we all want to vote for. Hillary is a big joke and Condi isn't running, so I still don't see it happening.

Because either they don't run, aren't nominated to run, or don't win the election.
No one prevents them from running for office.
