If my husband doesn't quit bothering me, I'll let you know about the widow thing.

Good question...
I would say widow because of that whole, "Tis better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all" thing, but I don't know...
Just thinking about the possibility of losing my husband is heart-wrenching, and after seeing my grandfather suffer from the lose of his wife from 50 years... I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone.
Eh, tough call, but in the end... I say widow. I can't imagine how horrible my life would have been had my husband and I never married. He completes me and filled such a void in my life I didn't even realize was there.

It's hard to say because I did lost a husband of 24 years, true it is better to be loved, but the heartache you go through is terrible. You lose someone who was so much a part of your life that somedays you feel you can't go on, but you do. So, my answer I guess would have to be a widow because I have 3 wonderful kids and 8 Grandchildren from that marriage.

Who knows? I think that there are probably some "old maids" who have surrounded themselves with family and close friends and feel completely at peace with their situation and feel like they've missed out on nothing in life. I think that there are also widows who were in terrible marriages and wish that they had been "old maids" because they've wasted their lives on a dead end, abusive, non-loving marriage but couldnt find their way out because society places the "old maid" label on women who never married.
Personally, I cannot imagine losing my husband but I am certain that I am glad I met him and am thankful every day that I have him in my life. I realize, though, that many people never find true love.

I'd rather be a widow, but not for a long time...I was basically single until I was 35 (had BF's, but no husbands, etc) and now that I'm finally ready to be married, I don't want to return to my single life, though I did enjoy myself quite a bit then,!

If I had a choice it would be neither, but people do pass on, so I'll have to go with widow.
