humans per se? unlikely.
a new tool-making, thinking species could evolve (no guarantees); perhaps a large, complex form of insect.

Probably not in this particular cycle of the universe's existence but maybe the next one.
I'm sure that throughout time the universe has Exploded and Imploded countless times.
We are not the first.
Carl Sagan on Hindu cosmology
Carl Sagan was a distinguished Cornell University astronomer and Pulitzer Prize-winning author.
"The main reason that we oriented this episode of Cosmos towards India is because of that wonderful aspect of Hindu cosmology which first of all gives a time-scale for the Earth and the universe -- a time-scale which is consonant with that of modern scientific cosmology. We know that the Earth is about 4.6 billion years old, and the cosmos, or at least its present incarnation, is something like 10 or 20 billion years old. The Hindu tradition has a day and night of Brahma in this range, somewhere in the region of 8.4 billion years."

No. This is up to God, not up for reality that humans would become extinct. This is not why God created us. When he did create us, he had a purpose for us:
"To fill the earth and be fruitful upon it".
Just because things look bleak right now does not mean that God's purpose for us will not come to pass. Right after Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden did he start to implement to give back life that they lost for mankind; a Seed and that seed would come thru David's bloodline. It did in the new testiment as Mary, the Virgin was from David's bloodline and gave birth to Jesus.
Look, when God has a purpose for something, no man, no one is going to make it happen any other way. His purpose must come to pass and "God cannot lie". When he says something will happen, you'd better believe it will.
The last thing that many will see in this world is Armageddon but most sadly at that time, will lose their lives, but remember, there will be survivors---those who heeded his instruction and his showed their love and devotion for Him. Yes, the meek ones shall inherit the earth and forever reside upon it in the abundance of peace. (Psalm 37)

It sounds to me that what you are espousing is reincarnation, rather than evolution.
"I know not why God's wondrous grace to me he has made known, nor why, unworthy, Christ in love redeemed me for his own. But I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I've committed unto him against that day." These words from a powerful hymn are still being experienced with power in the lives of many people from every nation, from every generation to this very day.
And the Bible says that by the word of his mouth (Jesus) all things hold together. To this I would rather hold onto, rather than clinging to totally unsubstatiated theories as yet unproven, even though followed religiously by many.

Very, very unlikely, humans evolved in specific conditions that would probably not be duplicated.(first time round anyway).
