-1

Absolute value of a number is:
* The number, if positive or zero (|3| = 3)
* The number's additive inverse, if negative (|-3| = 3)

| -2 | - | 9 - 12 | =
| -2 | - | -3 | =
2 - 3 =
-1

If they'd wanted the absolute value of the overall answer, it would have been written something like this:

| |-2| - |9-12| |

Hello

The |-2| = 2 the |9-12| = |-3| = 3 so we have 2 -3 = -1.

Hope This Helps!

As Optimizer says, NO, the answer does not carry any kind of memory of the absolute values taken during its solution.

Think of the absolute value operator like any other operator: addition, subtraction, taking powers, etc. You would never expect the answer for a calculation involving those to somehow retain the division, say, aspect in the answer. This is just the same!

(Everyone got the value right.)

first... the abs value of -2 is 2. 9-12 is -3. the abs value of -3 is 3. 2-3 is -1. -1 would be the anwser.

No. |-2| = 2, and |9-12| = |-3| = 3
Question reduces to 2 - 3 = -1

which capacity 2x-5 must be below 9 and likewise greater desirable than -9. So resolve 2x - 5 < 9 AND 2x - 5 > -9, by using the techniques we've shown you in previous solutions. you will desire to finally finally end up with x between -2 and 7, i.e. -2 < x < 7 observe emy is the only different answerer who's superb suited (up till now)

Just kidding, Minus 1.

Absolute value is just that. Whatever is in the change domain of the bracket just changes, no other rules....

GONZ is guessing..... and wrong
