we got a fire pit thing but it wasnt the ones made out cement instead it is just for the deck and it is kinda boring because you can't gcook food or anything on it you can only have it for warmth and display so we're taking it aback and getting a dreal firepit to go on the grass and not on the garden so do you have any ofther ideas?

I would go for a big outdoor fan, lots of tropical plants, maybe a patio fountain or a patio pond, a hammock and a hammock stand, a nice gas grill with a small fridge, a dart board and something that you can play music on.

If your deck is open (no cover) I'd maybe also consider getting some big ol umbrellas and stands to help block the sun. Don't forget to plant some pretty flowers, trees and bushes around the perimeter of your porch. The flowers will look pretty, and the trees and bushes will give you lots of shade and some privacy.

Enjoy your new deck!

Potted vining plant with a trellis? Like a morning glory, mandevilla, or star jasmine. These look really nice against the fence at the back or side of a deck. You could also make or buy plant stands or benches of varying heights with potted flowering plants.

We have a chiminea (terra cotta kind of Mexican fire pit thing - see this link: http://www.chiminea.net/). It's cool because it's kind of decorative and you can use it for a heater when it's cold.

Those standing propane heaters are cool (hot?) too. You can get one full size for about $250 at home improvement stores.

Also consider that you can get Malibu lights that bolt to the deck and have the wires running through the floor. You then put the transformer under the deck where no one can see it. This gives a very cool lighting effect at night. Or, use solar ones, if you don't mind spending $25 a light.

If you like growing stuff... try an Upside-Down Tomato Garden.
This ingenious planter takes the toil out of tomatoes by elevating the planting bed so vines grow downward. Hanging vines need almost no attention as tomatoes ripen in the air (not on the ground) where they wont rot.
I got this for my mom for her birthday. It looks relly cool on her deck. Easy to do.
There is also a bunch of other cool things for your deck on that website under outdoor living.

You could get some planters and grow some plants. A nice bench or a swing would be neat. Fire bowls/pits are fairly popular right now, one of those surrounded by some nice comfy chairs would be cool.

Some big urns with ferns in them......a container herb garden arranged nicely on a drink cart.

A stand with a large metal tub in it......that way when you have parties you can fill the tub with ice and put your drinks in it.

If you trim the bushes around your deck, it will look even bigger.
