The FBI pounds on your door, states who they are, and then they wait a bit for you to open it. So you were warned, after a bit they'll break it down, but its really your fault at that point isn't it?

I dont think they do. If you would've opened the door to let them in they wouldn't have busted the door down. My husband is a detective, the department don't pay for any damages they cause to someones home. If they need in it's probably for a reason ---I dont know very many people who have the FBI bust their door down and not have a good reason to do it.

usually, no. But if they made a mistake and raided the wrong house, then not only will they pay for the door, but a phat lawsuit settlement as well.

If they have a warrant, no. If they were acting in exigent circumstances, and in good faith, no. If they broke it down because they turned up at the wrong address, yes.
