We've been married for 10 months and keep fighting ove the same exact thing. I can script how things will develop. We both contribute to each fight. We make up, often wonderign what the hell happened the night before. In a week or 2 the same exact things happens again. Health insurance doesn't cover the therapy and money is kinda tight now- this is a part of the problem. Both of us agree that continue on like that is INSANE. I dont' like "go to church advice" mainly because I do not enjoy being preached to. Husband said he will support the idea of any therapist I will be comfortable with. I go to Unity church on the Plaza. Any ideas????

Diakonos Counseling (816) 373-9240 3031. It's in Independence, MO.

They have a sliding scale for payments and offer religious or non-religious counseling. They are excellent. I highly recommend them.

Westside Family Church. 913-422-8244. It's a non-denominational church. The counselors are really good and they don't "preach" at you. In fact almost all of them have come from rocky or bad marriages and have managed to turn them around. And then went into counseling other people (after schooling). So, they really understand what people are going through. And you don't feel intimidated or have to sugar coat things since you know they have been through similar things (they will share their story with you on your first visit so that you both get to know each other on a more personal level and can get comfortable sharing things). (Note: there will be some scripture and some other book recomendations)
Counseling is sometimes free and/or they work with your budget and make it cost available to each person. (ours was free!)
Good luck and congrats on already taking the first step and realizing you need help! Better than just throwing in the towel and getting divorced like everyone seems to do. A little help now and then is always great!!

Churches arent the answer. If churches were the answer to our everyneed then God wouldnt have to do anything. Todays churches just want either your money or your labor. What you and the rest of the world need is true salvation.
If you are not a God fearing person, then you should give Jesus Christ a chance. Miracles didnt just happen to the people in the old days. They still happen today for those that are weak in faith. God is the author and creator of everything. All things happen for a reason. Just put God first in your life and let Him show you the way.

There is a man in Nebraska that does fabulous counseling. He has an apt rented just for those who come to see him, they come from all over. The place to stay is free. He doesn't help fix the little things instead he finds the real source of the problem which may have little to do with what your fighting about. Let me know and I'll get his name from my pastor, because I forgot his name. Sorry.

I just moved to Texas from the Kansas City. Yes it is good that you both realize that you are in need of counseling in the hopes of getting your marriage on solid ground. Try looking in the yellow pages....or do a google search for therapist in your area. Best of luck!
