Ok well I received a lot of answers saying it's against my catholic fate because it comes from saitan but they were all un clear on the subject of good magic. Is this better?
Also can anyone recomend any books or online books on this subjest.
About the whole black magic thing I thought that that was just the way of saying magic but no the type of magic a kidy entertainer use's I have a good belief in god and he teach's to respect all religions as long as I am not harming anyone with my beliefs so if I use good magic I would not harm anyone.
Oh and I don't believe in the devil because if he existed either him or God would be well gone by now they couldn't live in the same universe.
So in summary please respond to what I am saying here with advice and coments and if you are interesting in chating to me fell free to E-Mail me off my yahoo answers profile.

Since I'm a Practicing Pagan I will recommend you do some reading. If this is the type of Magick you are asking about.
I would recommend Christopher Penczak, Ellen Dugan, & Raven Grimassi & Scott Cunningham.
They are well respected authors in most pagan communities.
Most Pagans do not believe in Satan. The belief of the Devil was created by Catholic Church.

I think the Church is against all kinds of Magick because it encourages individuals to work with or communicate with other powers.
I don't believe there is a difference between Black or White Magic. It is the intent with which it is practised that is important.
If you want to read some books on the subject to find out more some of the older authors are very good.
Janet & Stewart Farrer;
for explaining Gardnerian witchcraft
Dorien Valiente;
for Magic and Qabala
Aleister Crowley and Israel Regardie;
for the Golden Dawn, Qabala and Hermetic philosphies
Macgregor Mathers;
for a translation of a medieval grimiore
( The Book of Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage)
Marion Green;
for natural magic and paganism.

Hope you enjoy the read

The only thing that really seperates "white" magic and "black" magic is intention. Good magic is practiced with the best of intention and usually with the intention that the highest and "holiest" interest is served and that none are harmed.

Unfortunately, according to the this description, there are people of good intentions that still upon occasion practice dark magic. Most love spells fall under this genre. The reason for this is because they seek to take away the free will of others. Notice I say most. There are some of which I approve but these are the ones that speak attracting a nameless person into your life not forcing someone in your life to fall in love for you.

Cathoilcs are probably the only christians that do believe in mystisizm, psyhcis and mystics are ok to the catholic faith, i know because i had a very long conversation with a fathjer from my church, well my old church before iu denonsted my catholic roots. as far as god and the devil... well of course they both can still exsist in today's time. with out evil ther can be no good, they are what we call archtypes. now when it comes to white or black magic you will find varying beliefs, but to me... i believe there is no good or bad, no black or white. magic is just that magic and it is really just mental and spirtual energy that we each discharge. some things are not good to do, like love spells, they never work out right or cursing your enemies, because what ever you put out into the universe will come back at you 3 times. when you pray, that is magic, you are invoking the christian god, jesus or the christian goddess which is mary, and asking for things, be it peace or that job you really want. focusing your energy onto what you want. that is what a spell is. when you take the time to actually write a spell and do a ritual, well that is just a way to help you focus your energy. my favorite magick book is "making magick" and i can't recall the authors name right now, but it is published by Lewellyn books. they have good magic books. go to your local spiritual gift shop and look at their books, the book that you need will make itself known to you, and will teach you what you need to know.

good luck!

Here's a good rule of thumb: the weirder they spell magic, the less you trust what they're saying. There's no way in hell I'm going to take a kid seriously if he spells it (good grief) "majik". It's just annoying. Magic is nothing more than your own energy concentrated and channeled into doing something. There's no white or black magic, because it essentially has no color (or at least not one color- some say that magic is all colors and they are pretty much on the right track).

While I partially agree with Terry's answer, perhaps looking into other religion's views of magick it could help you to see the magick in your current faith. I hate the use of the words "black" and "white" to describe magick. It would be like saying water is evil because someone could drown in it. Magick is basically energy and it is our intention behind it that gives us the basis of black/negative or white/positive. A great book for you to read would be When, Why, If by Robin Wood which discusses Wiccan ethics or the book Wiccan Beliefs and Practices by Gary Cantrell. Or check out Witches Voice website.

This is an honest answer, not a taunt. As a Pagan, I have attended and studied the rituals of the Roman Catholic Church on many occasions. If you cannot find Magick in the Mass and Communion of your faith, I doubt if you can or will find the truth of Magick in any answers you will get on YA.

"Magic" is what stage magicians use. Most people who practice real magick spell it with the "k" at the end.

Magick does not come from an evil source. It is one of the resources given to us by the Goddess (or God, if you prefer) to get what we need. Like any other resource or tool, it can be misused. "Black magick" is anything that brings harm to anyone. "White magick" is good magick, that which brings no harm.

I teach magick as part of my duties as a HPs, but anyone of whatever religion can use it. But please, use it responsibly.

Magic is a great thing, it's just greatly underappreciated. I'm not a true practicioner, but I do spend much time reading about it. If you have any specific questions about magic, email me.

ok man, number one rule- Magic has no color, it is classisified by schools. The darker arts are not the best to practice though. And I'm not suprised the church told you not to considering they are one of the biggest members of the arcane community.hahahaha, They only teach and let there there most devoted priests and cardinals magic.
