You obviously don't see other peoples opinions, nor respect them. Fish are NOT decoration, and you have insulted me by saying so. Just because they don't fetch a ball or you can't hold them, doesn't mean they aren't part of your family. They are not slimy, since you don even touch them. The tank only gets slimy when you neglect to clean it. Tank cleanings can be dirty, but so can cleaning up your dogs poop at the park, your cats litterbox, or your hamsters cage. Fish are just another type of animal that people enjoy. They are beautiful and graceful creatures and give people a sense of calmness. It's one of the best feelings you can experience, when you wake up in the morning and see the beautiful and vibrant colors moving throughout the tank. Just because fish aren't like other animals, doesn't mean they shouldn't be respected. You need a serious attitude change and another outlook on life, because your seriously missing out.

The process of setting up an aquarium and creating a healthy environment for my fish is an interesting challenge. The whole cycling process is really interesting to me, and I take pride in having a well maintained tank. Also, the fish are pretty, and I enjoy watching them interact with each other (and me, their "feed me!" dance at the front of the tank in the morning is extremely cute).

You dont have to walk them like dogs, and its like a movie but live.its like you get to see different scenes of the movie.
The beginning:when you first get your tank and its set up that it look so kool, then you go to the store and get your fish.
The Middle:your fish grows and soon its has many friends, even a family they raise there little ones from birth till they begin to free swim on their own
The Conflict:so many fights between different cichlids, its a constant thing that you feel like the movie is on replay...LOL
The End:Finally If you had a fish for a very long, long.long time you see it pass away in a very dramatic scene..
Thats a live movie everyone can enjoy.

fish, yes are hard work, but they prove less troubling than domestic pets. you don't have to feed them as much, and the tanks only need cleaning 1-2 times a month. Plus they are relaxing to watch

I find my fish interesting to watch, many different types have interesting and different behaviours.I find there is a science to fish keeping and so much to know(what size tank they need, what different types should eat, cycling your tank, what can go together) to keep your fish happy and healthy and I enjoy learning about them but everyone has different interests and things they enjoy and fish keeping isn't for everyone. If a person cleans their tank properly it should only take about 20 minutes a week.

Tank cleanings are fairly simple, and it is a lot easier than walking a dog daily (which most people don't do anyway), and it isn't as gross as using a bag or a "pooper-scooper" to pick up warm dog crap. They are soothing to look at and many fish interact with their owners, and even eat from their hands.

watching them is very relaxing. keeping fish is very challenging..I can't just sit back on my laurels i have read and keep up on the science to it all. no boredom here with it.besides i think they do recognize the vibration of the person who usually feeds them when they approach the tank mine actually sorta follow me as i cross the room they cross the tank to the appropriate side . and I have other pets as well.... cleaning up the cat box and cleaning up after my dog is no picnic.

in case your searching for algae eaters-you may look at plecos, plecos are what people call "sucker fish" it may take some months in the previous your tank can produce any algae for those fish to munch on--it relatively is carried out with the help of leaving the lighting fixtures furniture on day and night---yet that cant be carried out with fish in the tank as this could rigidity them out---different algae ingesting critter could be snails---snails munch on algae and leftover nutrition in the substrate----maximum community fish will coexist with the two the snails and pleco--can look into guppies for novices--stable success on your undertaking!!
