There are plenty of actors/actresses with talent but the media forces so many of the talentless ones down our throats that it makes some believe that acting has become a lost art. I think it would be easier to name the ones without any actual talent:
Miley Cyrus, Lindsay Lohan, Keanu Reaves, Nicholas Cage, Will Ferrel, Tara Reid, any of the the "actors" on the CW network and the Disney channel, Eva Longoria, David Caruso from CSI: Miami, I could go on all day with this list.
To answer your question though, here are the ones that I believe are superb talents or who have a great amount of potential: Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, Angelina Jolie, Johhny Depp, Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, Samuel L. Jackson, Forrest Whitaker, Will Smith, Terrence Howard, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Natalie Portman, Keira Knightly (I thought she was very good in Domino), Anthony Hopkins, Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Claire Danes, Gwenyth Paltrow, Angela Basset, Cate Blanchett. I'll just stop there.

Hugh Laurie. He's hella rad, he's British and does the American accent perfect. When I first watched House I thought he was an American, that's how much I was convinced. He's an awesome singer, he can play lacrosse, excellent at the piano, fakes being a cripple and is really good at it, avid motorcyclist, he wrote a book-The Gun Seller, he used to row and was very good since he did win he 1977 National Junior Championship, took up diving years ago, pretty sure he plays the guitar since he got one on his 16th birthday, in celebrity band 16:9, He was awarded the O.B.E. (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2007 Queen's New Years Honours List for his services to drama. Yeah, he's pretty amazing. And he's super good looking which always helps.
