I finally convinced my anti-abortion, pro-capital punishment, anti gay marriage mom and sister that they are in fact NOT liberals.....however, I don't know if I've convinced them that a republican candidate would most match their philosophy.

Note to cvq3842 - we do forgive you hon, but no ice cream for you tonight. Carter? We all make mistakes.......but yours WAS a doozy! ;-)

Actually my brother. He was a die hard liberal. He was also living a lie. He was constantly in trouble with the law, drinking, smoking dope, and basically in a bad frame of mind and always angry and depressed.
He finally straightened up long enough to the point of realizing he was conservative. Moderate conservative, but it's better than what he was.

I didn't realize it until one day we were talking, and the conversation turned to world events and I thought, "Oh boy! Here we go." I was preparing myself for the anti-war, ant-Bush, anti Republican BS he used to spout.
Next thing I knew he was all about how good a job Bush has done, and how silly and demoralizing the Democrats had become. I was like, WHAT?
I asked him what had changed, for he used to be a Cindy Sheehan trapped in a mans body.
He said after he sobered up, and began to notice his little brother and how I lived. How at peace I seemed and confidant. Rarely having any issues in my life. He said that was what prompted him to investigate further.
He now is a registered Republican and thinks Dems have completely lost their minds.

I didn't do a thing but apparently serve as an example.

I think I have influence four people to stop being yellow dogs democrats and they now vote conservatively.
One person that change which is my best friend but it wasn't my influence but when she became a born again Christian. Her changing was just gravy on the top.

I hope I have made a difference by my actions as well as my words. I think the actions of Liberal Democrats have turned more people into Conservatives than my humble words.

That was an old blues number Harrison dusted off. A good one.

I WORKED on Carter's campaign in 1976!

Yes, I have changed. :)

Hmmm, the ones I know are all stuck in their yellow submarines.

BUT, I have had a lot of conservatives write me to say thank you for saying what they wanted to say, but couldn't find the words for.

Can I get partial credit?

Anybody can make a difference if they say what they believe and honestly share their convictions. It's not always necessary to convince other people that they're wrong in lieu of your own beliefs.

Sorry Earnest, I have seen many of your questions and responses. None of them could make any Patriotic Liberal change their mind. You keep trying though as we are the ones that are for a free country

In my estimation George W. Bush and other Republicans have been more instrumental in having Republicans switch to Democratic than any Democrat influence.
