By the rule of three:

If the object traveled 30 feet in 10 seconds, it will travel x feet in 7 seconds.

x = (7 x 30) / 10
x = (210) / 10
x = 21

Solution: The object will travel 21 feet in 7 seconds.

30 feet / 10 seconds = 3 feet per second.

7 seconds * 3 feet = 21 feet in seven seconds.

if it travelled 30 feet in 10 seconds then it traveled 3 feet in 1 second.

Simply divide them both by 10 to get that.

If something travels 3 feet per second, then in 7 seconds it travels 21 total feet.

What they're telling you is that you should assume a constant velocity (not like in real life where you're slower to start and at the end).

So you have 30 feet in 10 secs and you want to know how many feet in 7 secs. It's a ratio.

30ft is to 10 secs like ? ft is to 7 secs

30/10 = x/7 and solve for x

7*30/10 = x

21 = x

Or even, in this case, look at it this way: 30 feet in 10 secs means 3 feet in 1 sec (divide both by 10). So 7*3 feet in 7 secs.

10 / 30 = 7 / x

Cross multiply to get x = 30 * 7 / 10
==> 210 / 10 = 21 feet

I think first you would divide the feet traveled (30) by the time it traveled (10) to get how many feet it travels every second.

30/10=3

so it is traveling 3 feet every second.

Then you would multiply how many feet it travels per second (3) by how many seconds it is traveling for (7).
3x7=21

So it would travel 21 feet in 7 seconds.

21 feet. divide each side by 10 therefore for evey 1 second it travels 3 feet. then multiply it by 7 therefore 7 seconds = 21 feet

21 feet :P. Its a proportion.

30/10 = x/7

7 times 30 equals 210

210 divided by 10 equals 21
