A lot of really good answers. It's going to be tough picking a winner out of this.

AL - Alex Rodriguez

WITH ALL THE HEAT HE TOOK last year he has come back with a vengeance to be the best in the game...he's having an MVP type year...like him or hate him you can't deny that he has carried the yanks so far

NL

Prince Fielder...I mean everyone knew he was good but no one knew he was THIS GOOD....dude is hitting home runs like crazy and he got more votes than Albert Pujols to start in the all star game...incredible!

Plus fielder's team is in first place...no one expected that

AL- Pedroia (2nd-Boston) As a rookie that started in a terrible slump hit .176 for a month or so and is currently hitting in .310-.320 range as a rookie! Plus the fact that he is 5'8" and 170 lbs while carrying two 10lb dumbells!

NL-??? Holliday (Rockies) the guy just continues to mash the ball! Too bad he plays for the Rockies otherwise he would be a superstar player for the league to market!

Fielder (Brewers) has had a great season as well. Next to see them compete for a change!

I am going to give you two names that are not your elite stars, anyone could say A-Rod. How about Mike Lowell 304-15-71 when no one was expecting anything from him. In the National League I would go with Brad Hawpe 300-18-66 and a breakout year for this young and up coming star. Nice question.
