Are you implying that the U.S. should now invade Iran? Great idea! Why not have all of the Middle East hate you! And I'm sure you will handle such as invasion with all of the competence that you showed during the Iraq war--oops, I mean conflict, no, I mean mission accomplished. Maybe the world would be a better place if the U.S. stopped pretending it was the world's cop.

pre-WWII wasn't moral paralysis
the resistance just took time to build (remember that it eventually did)
it took time for people to really understand what was going on (they didn't have the multiple channels of instant news media that we do now) and it took time to build military resistance (especially during a worldwide economic depression)
and you have to remember that the European people were still traumatized by the horrible 1st world war just 20 years earlier and were very reluctant for a repeat
I think, if anything, since 911 America has been morally rash. The Iraq war is a good example of this, we went it on our high-horse "knowing" what was right and what was good for Iraq and then we found we hadn't taken enough time to plan.

No, Iran hasn't threatened anyone yet and it's not our job to be the police of the world. By the way, Thomas Sowell is a semi-literate cretin who needs to learn to proofread his articles. He said, "Nuclear weapons in the hands of Iran and its international terrorist allies will be a worst threat than Hitler ever was." I hope I don't have to explain what atrocious grammar that is. You misspelled paralyzed too.

If that is morally paralized, then right now, we are far further than that. During the 1930's the world was suffering from a world-wide depression. If we are comparing ourselves now to the depression, then we have hit rock bottom.

Well, 150,000 of our troops have been over seas for 5 years fighting for us, we have half the country at home supporting them, the other half complaining, all while we try to stop Korea and Iran from blowing the world up with nukes. I'd say we're anything BUT morally paralized.

yeah but not how the article states....
It seems no one will DO something about how we are pissing away the American Century or pissed I should say... its seems like certain doom right now eh?
I mean Enron, Citibank, Merril Lynch, war for oil. the last 8 presidents... tho this last one makes Nixon look like a tree hugging liberal. Military Keynesianism, Debt, and continued borrowing...
the organization of people is the hard part... no one cares!
Someone told me today that global warming isn't real and she was serious... something about scientists saying that its like a pendulum... and its just Liberals trying to get into everyone's lives... naive...
TV and web "news" is dominated with Paris Hilton and other cheep whores with mountains of wealth and that's what people care about...
"WE NEED TO BE RID OF THESE IMMORAL GREEDY LIL KILLERS!" but they don't care.. complacent and compliant to the lulls of complacency...
Aspects of America are the Hilter and we're not doing anything about stopping ourselves from our own doom.
....and we will be rid or the burdens continuing immoralities the easy way or the hard way; in time.
