There really isn't much you can do about it. Try your best to stay healthy by doing things that I am sure you already know about. Smile, dance, and do whatever it takes to make YOU happy. You only get one spin, might as well enjoy it. Most of us have had children, spouses, parents, pets and whatever else to take care of, now it is our turn! Enjoy

It's not easy, especially when you get in your 40s and beyond. The world just seems so youth-oriented. I don't know what groups are out there nowadays and I have no idea what anime is and I read a Harry Potter book and found no gratification in it. What I do is look at people I admire my age or older and try to emulate their attitude. Western society really does frown on age and wants you to just go away after a certain time it seems, especially if you are a woman. I take better care of myself than I did when I was younger, try to live a quiet lifestyle, I enjoy the company of those younger and older who take me for what I am as a person and not for how old I am, and look up to role models. Really, what alternative do you have?

well, life does get better as you have more experience if you learn from your experience. You can keep making your life better. When you were young you may have though older people were not worth much but now you know different. Getting older is better than the alternative (death).

I'm 30, but I've got this BA in psych and this very mulit-cultural view of the world, so please take this for what it's worth.

First of all, 40 is the new 30, and all that jazz. That just relates to much of Western pop culture, in which I figure you find yourself.
More importantly, we as a culture are all screwed up, not like any one is perfect.
Asians revere their dead, for crying out loud!
They look up to age, not beauty, not youth, and certainly not inexperienced ignorance!!!
So, in this crazy culture we have, make your age great.
Take stock in all of your attributes, and be that person that someone will look up to and respect.
This is the key to making a greater you, and a greater society!

You would need to stop watching T.V alltogether.Ever since I started to barely watch T.V, My self esteem has sky-rocketed and I have lost 15 ibs. I eat healthy and I feel less stressed. but then again, I am prone to comparison, so not watching TV worked for me. I no longer compare myself to Beyonce. Even though I think I have as good or even better body than she does.
